The City of Pontiac has long been considered an under-resourced, overlooked and marginalized community.  Systemic barriers to employment, transportation, quality housing, and affordable food, among others, have plagued our city for years.  In addition, due to navigating several years of emergency management, our city government has been unable to provide the vibrant community and quality of life our residents so deserve. 

As a Pontiac native, serving eight years as director of a faith-based community organization in Pontiac, our founder Dustin McClellan, has seen these barriers with his own eyes.  The goal of the Pontiac Community Foundation was to target these challenges head on by identifying philanthropic partners that desired to engage in catalytic projects and initiatives that could move Pontiac forward. 

Out of this desire the Pontiac Community Foundation was created; to be a conduit for resources into the city of Pontiac, a model for organizational leadership, and a resource for Pontiac nonprofits and small businesses. 

As we celebrate 5 years, Pontiac Community Foundation continues to work diligently to make a broad impact in the city of Pontiac and has been able to leverage more than 10 million dollars in financial resources for the Pontiac community.  During the Anniversary Celebration, four community members or organizations will be presented with an award reflective of their commitment to Pontiac in our focus areas of Neighborhood Investment, Economic Vitality, Civic Engagement, and Racial Equity.
